Playing in the Rain

Yesterday, we had the down pour kinda rain.  You know the kind that couldn't possible last too long.

Well, before it started to rain I was feeling kinda down.  I was thinking a lot on how things weren't going exactly how I planned in my life.  Which is no surprise right, all of us experience that from time to time.  We think WE know how it should all go.

So anyway, this down pour starts and I had of a flash of a memory of one day when I was about 7 years old.  We had a down pour similar to this and my mother just ran outside and was running and jumping in the driveway.  I joined her and we laughed and played until the rain stopped.  That was a great memory.

To hold on to that memory,  I told my daughter let's go outside and play.  My niece joined us too.  We played tag, splashed each other and stomped in puddles.  We did this for about half an hour.  It was one of the most freeing times of my life.

From this event, I was happy and not pouting over my failure or should I say lack of achievements I THINK I should have by now in my life.  So, I didn't plan the rain either but by choosing to embrace the rain I became a better person.  I believe we all have opportunities in our lives to embrace the present and be free or continue to dwell on the past and miss out on life's special moments.

What are you possibly missing today?  What could you embrace today that can make you filled with joy?  You can choose how to approach this day.

Einstein once said, "There are two ways to live your life - one is as though nothing is a miracle, and the other is as though everything is a miracle."
